Realistic Food Embroidery That’ll Make You Salivate

You might think you’ve seen everything at this point and nothing can surprise you anymore, but I’m pretty sure that this embroidery artist will manage to do so. They go by @ipnot on Instagram and their embroidery is so realistic you’ll be blown away. Trust me when I say you’ve legitimately never seen embroidery that looked so cool before.

We’d say it’s out of this world, but the subject matter is very common and borderline mundane. The artist creates mostly food-based embroidery, but it’s the technique and the realism of it that’s unbelievable.

This Japanese-based embroidery artist has been introduced to embroidery from a young age. They’ve seen their grandmother do it and were inspired to try and learn this craft. They tried many techniques of embroidery, but their favorite is the French knot. It’s a way of creating embroidery one knot at a time. They say they use the thread and needle similar to how painters might use a paintbrush, creating their artworks one brushstroke, or in this case, one knot at a time.

The result is nothing short of brilliant. Not only has Ipnot managed to pick the perfect colors of thread to represent each bit of food. They got the texture down right, and most importantly it looks legit. Their embroidery is totally three-dimensional and looks like a miniature version of the real thing.

They even manage to leave some threads out and make them look like stretchy cheese or some noodles that you’re just about to slurp down while enjoying a good bowl of ramen. You’ve got to give it to Ipnot. They utilize every single trick they can to make their embroidery look even more real. It’s good enough on its own, but they go the extra mile.

Their posts on Instagram are basically a masterclass in creative photography. Every angle is thought out, the lightning is impeccable and the props actually work to get the artist’s vision across even better. It’s really impressive to see how a bunch of colorful threads can be transformed into a very realistic food item in the hands of a true embroidery master.

We can’t decide what blew our mind more, the attention to detail or how spot on the actual idea to create embroidery that’s three-dimensional and has movement to it. The coffee has to be one of our favorites, as well as the pizza. The way those treads stretch just like cheese would is just insane. What a stroke of genius!
